FAQ's
I have never ridden with a group before - is it still okay to join your Club?
Absolutely! You are the perfect candidate. We'll teach you how to ride safely in a group.
For more information on cycling safety, view our Club Ride Guidelines page.
Do I Need a Level of Riding Proficiency?
You should be able to ride a minimum of 40 km at an average pace of 19 km/h.
What equipment will I need to get started?
You need a bike (preferably a road bike - not a mountain bike) in good working
order (good idea to get it checked beforehand), an approved helmet, hydration (water bottle)
and cycling shoes. Other items you may want to
consider are sun screen and a light food snack.
Do we stop along the way during our rides?
A pit stop is usually scheduled halfway into the ride. There is an
opportunity to get refreshments, but it is a good idea to bring your own just in case. Bananas,
peanut butter in a pita, trail mix, power bar or fig newtons are good snacks.
Where do the rides start?
Rides usually alternate between five starting locations. The parking lot of the Meadowvale Sports Park (MSP) located on Meadowvale Boulevard west of Mississauga Road (north of 401) at Syntex, Sobeys parking lot at Tenth Line & Thomas St, Churchill Meadows Community Centre on Ninth Line, Lisgar GO Station at Argentia Rd & Tenth Line, and Twin Arenas on Unity Drive east of Ridgeway Drive.
Occasionally, rides will start from a different location. This information will be made available to members in advance of the ride date.
Credit Valley Cycling Club offers you the opportunity to increase your skill level and knowledge of the sport. Do not worry if you have not done group riding. As long as you have some riding experience, you will discover the joy of riding in a group environment.
